Build your experience in sales
We are looking for a Team Member to join our sales team in Newcastle. Your work will centre on speaking with customers, understanding what they need and helping them choose suitable products or services. You will be directly involved in generating sales, with clear targets and practical support from your team leader.
This position would suit someone starting their sales career or bringing experience from retail, hospitality or customer service. You do not need a previous sales job to apply. Being comfortable starting conversations, following through on commitments and learning from feedback will give you a strong foundation.
The role is full time and based on site in Newcastle, with an immediate start available.
Your role in the team
You will work alongside other sales team members and report to a sales team leader. Your day will include customer conversations, following up enquiries and keeping records accurate so colleagues can see what has been agreed.
Some customers will be ready to make a decision; others will need further explanation or time to consider their options. You will need to listen carefully, handle questions professionally and remain consistent when conversations do not result in a sale.
Your responsibilities
- Start conversations with prospective customers and establish whether our products or services meet their needs.
- Ask relevant questions to understand each customer’s priorities before making a recommendation.
- Explain product features, prices and terms clearly, checking that customers understand what they are agreeing to.
- Work towards agreed individual sales targets and contribute to the team’s overall results.
- Follow up enquiries and arrange next steps with customers who need more information.
- Handle objections calmly, using accurate information and respecting the customer’s decision.
- Complete sales documentation carefully and check customer details before submitting an order or application.
- Maintain current records in our customer relationship management system, including conversation notes and agreed follow ups.
- Coordinate with colleagues to ensure customers receive a smooth handover when further support is needed.
- Raise complaints, unusual requests or questions outside your knowledge with your team leader.
- Participate in team briefings and coaching sessions, applying feedback to your next customer conversations.
- Share recurring customer questions and useful feedback to help the team improve its approach.
What you will need
- Clear verbal communication and the confidence to introduce yourself to new people.
- Good listening skills, with an ability to explain information in straightforward language.
- A willingness to work towards sales targets and review your results with your team leader.
- Reliability and punctuality, including following through on customer commitments.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to enter information accurately.
- A constructive response to feedback and the patience to develop new skills through practice.
- The ability to organise your workload while supporting colleagues when priorities change.
- Availability for full time work on site in Newcastle and the right to work in the UK.
Previous experience as a sales assistant, customer service advisor, retail team member or hospitality team member would be useful. Applications are also welcome from people entering the workplace or changing careers. A degree is not required.
Training and support
Your initial paid training will cover our products or services, customer conversations and the systems used to record sales. You will observe experienced colleagues before practising with support.
During your first month, the focus will be on building product knowledge, completing records correctly and becoming more confident with customer questions. Regular check ins will help you understand your targets and identify where additional coaching would be useful.
