Mountjoy specialises in providing professional and high-quality construction, refurbishment, building maintenance and facilities management services across the south of England. We provide reactive repairs, planned preventive maintenance, and project work across the University of Southampton's residential halls and estates.
As a Carpenter Apprentice you will assist our current tradesman in conducting a range of repairs, maintenance and installation work. Your apprenticeship journey will be supported by experienced trade professionals, and a resolute mentor who will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress. You will work alongside your mentor for four days per week and attend South Hampshire College Group at the Eastleigh site for one day a week, to study and pass a Level 2 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will be a 2-year programme made up of 80% work-based learning and 20% off the job training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for the safety of yourself and those around you whilst in the workplace, ensuring you are also environmentally conscious.
- Purchase tools throughout your apprenticeship to enable you to perform your role on completion of your apprenticeship.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.
- There will be an expectation that by the end of the apprenticeship that you hold a full UK Driving Licence.
- Have previously completed a full-time Level 2 Site Carpentry course (Desirable).
