Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. Working Week
Flexible hours available for both part time and full time positions.
Occasional other days/shift patterns depending on business needs.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by chefs and cooks, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained.
- Keep the kitchen area clean and organised, including washing dishes, pots, and utensils promptly.
- Support the culinary team by ensuring all necessary equipment and ingredients are readily available.
- Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen areas, including floors, surfaces, and storage spaces.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and ensure recycling practices are followed.
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
- Help with basic cooking tasks when required, contributing to meal preparation during busy service periods.
Skills
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
- Strong understanding of hospitality standards and practices within a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when necessary.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail, ensuring cleanliness and order in the kitchen.
- Basic culinary skills or knowledge of food preparation techniques would be beneficial.
- A positive attitude towards helping others and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
