About us
Entech Commercial Ltd is an energy broker working with businesses across the UK to secure competitive gas, electricity and water contracts. We compare rates from a panel of suppliers, manage the contract process from quotation to go-live, and support our clients throughout the life of their agreements. Our reputation is built on long-standing client relationships and a hands-on, no-nonsense service.
We are now looking for a Sales Account Manager to take ownership of an established portfolio of customers, keep those accounts renewing year after year, and help us grow the business.
The role
This is a varied, hands-on role that sits at the heart of the business. Around two thirds of your time will be spent looking after existing clients — building relationships, managing renewals and resolving queries — with the remainder split between developing new business and supporting the day-to-day administration that keeps contracts moving.
You will be the main point of contact for your accounts, so we are looking for someone confident on the phone, well organised, and comfortable working to targets. Full support and training on our systems, suppliers and processes will be provided.
Key responsibilitiesAccount management and retention
- Manage and develop a portfolio of existing business energy clients, acting as their day-to-day point of contact.
- Monitor contract end dates and proactively contact clients ahead of renewal to secure the best available terms.
- Obtain and compare quotations from our supplier panel, present options clearly, and advise clients on the most suitable contract for their usage and budget.
- Build long-term relationships that maximise retention and encourage referrals.
- Handle client queries relating to billing, meter readings, change of tenancy, transfer objections and supplier issues, seeing each through to resolution.
- Identify additional opportunities within existing accounts, such as further sites, water, or additional meters.
New business and growth
- Generate new business through outbound calls, warm leads, referrals and follow-up of lapsed enquiries.
- Qualify prospects, understand their energy requirements and present tailored proposals.
- Negotiate and close contracts, meeting agreed monthly and quarterly targets.
- Keep up to date with movements in the energy market so you can give clients well-informed advice.
Administration and support
- Keep the CRM accurate and up to date with client records, contract details, notes and activity.
- Prepare and issue contracts, letters of authority and supporting paperwork, and chase these through to completion.
- Liaise with suppliers to progress applications, resolve rejections and confirm live dates.
- Assist with commission reconciliation and reporting, checking payments received against expected values and raising queries with suppliers where needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider team as required.
What we are looking forEssential
- Previous experience in a sales, account management or customer service role, ideally B2B and telephone based.
- Confident and professional telephone manner, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
- Accurate and detail-focused, particularly when handling contracts, pricing and data.
- Comfortable working towards targets and being measured on results.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- A willingness to pitch in with administrative tasks alongside the sales side of the role.
Desirable
- Experience within the energy or utilities sector, whether with a broker, consultancy or supplier.
- Understanding of business energy contracts, half-hourly and non-half-hourly metering, and the switching process.
- Experience using a CRM system.
- Familiarity with supplier portals and quotation platforms.
What we offer
- Salary of £25,500 to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Commission on new business and renewals, giving you genuine control over your earnings.
- 20 days' holiday plus bank holidays. With an extra day added each year up to 25 days.
