Please note that the successful candidate must hold Train Manager competency and will be responsible for managing both Cambrian depots: Machynlleth and Pwllheli.
The Role
Our Train Managers are playing a central role in TfW's vision to transform transport in Wales. As such, the Train Manager Leadership Team is currently looking for engaging, motivated and exceptional people managers to lead teams of Train Managers through and beyond this transformation.
Role responsibilities
- To manage a team of Train Managers, in support of the Conductor Performance Manager, through the competency management systems relating to safety responsibilities, including the delivery of high standards of on board customer service and train running performance.
- Ensure that safety and operational competencies of staff are maintained through the application of the competency process & company procedures.
- Undertake timely and comprehensive investigations relating to train safety incidents, customer and staff accidents, major delays and cancellations, taking appropriate follow up actions as required.
- Provide front line leadership to ensure the Company's customer service standards and requirements are always upheld and promoted via constant feedback, review of data, on the job coaching and other means, as appropriate.
Who we're looking for
- Knowledge and application of all relevant rules, working practices, operational standards and procedures for Conductors.
- Understanding of traincrew rostering, conditions of service, welfare procedures, revenue equipment, personal presentation requirements and depot facility management
- Strong people management skills in evidence, including coaching for performance as well as managing discipline and grievance handling.
- Operational experience as a Conductor and knowledge of Transport For Wales traction and rules.
- Leaders who are engaged, pro-active and visible.
Welsh Language Skills
While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
