Job purpose
R enjoys one to one time, and this role is to support to promote R’s independence and to assist him to go out and about to do and see age-appropriate, fun things.
About me
R is 12 years old and was born with Williams Syndrome and learning difficulties. R loves cats- he has two, and we also have one dog. R enjoys fishing, swimming, playing football and cinema trips. R lives with his nanny and grandad and two siblings. R is a very happy lad. R is physically able. We are seeking a kind and caring Support Worker who can give R time to speak and understand.
We live in a non-smoking house. The Support Worker will be responsible to R’s nanny as the employer. The Support Worker will be informed of R’s situation and would be expected to treat this information in total confidence.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sometimes supporting R with personal care
- Taking R out and about
- Keeping R safe when out

Summary terms and conditions
- Hours, days and times of work: 6 hours per month, ideally to be worked on weekends (Saturday or Sunday afternoons). Either 2x3 hours or 1x6 hour session per month.
- Pay rate: £12.71 per hour
- Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
- Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
- Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
The post is subject to the following
- References: If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if you have not been employed (this cannot be a family member).
- Trial period: This post is subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
- Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.
