Overview

You will assist the Nursery Managers/Directors in the daily management of the nursery. You will assist the managers in ensuring that all legislation in relation to registration with regulatory bodies; special needs; child protection and Health and Safety is complied with and that company policies and procedures are adhered to. In the absence of the managers you will be expected to undertake the overall day-to-day management of the nursery.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and support the team within your room, ensuring consistently high standards of practice, teamwork, accountability and effective implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Provide and promote high-quality care and education, supporting children's physical, emotional, social and intellectual development and ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Lead curriculum planning and assessment within the room, ensuring observations, assessments, planning and children's records are accurate, meaningful and maintained to a high standard.
- Maintain a high-quality learning environment, ensuring resources and experiences, both indoors and outdoors, reflect children's individual needs, interests and stages of development.
- Monitor and develop staff practice through observations, spot checks, constructive feedback, realistic targets and role modelling of high-quality interactions, teaching and behaviour management.
- Promote effective partnerships with parents and carers, maintaining positive communication and encouraging their involvement in their child's learning, development and nursery experience.
- Promote SEND, equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring children's individual needs are identified, understood and appropriately supported.
- Work closely with the Nursery Managers and wider leadership team to maintain consistent standards throughout the nursery, contribute to curriculum development and support new initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding, health and safety, security, cleanliness and administration within the room, ensuring nursery policies, procedures, statutory guidance and EYFS requirements are consistently followed.
- Maintain professional knowledge and standards, keeping up to date with developments in early years practice, legislation and guidance while demonstrating the Company's Core Values and positively promoting the nursery to families and visitors.
- Support the professional development of the team, including mentoring and development of practitioners, new staff, students and apprentices, while reflecting on and continuously developing your own leadership practice.
