Full job description

Working hours: Minimum 35 hours per week, working a minimum of 40% across each month in the Territorial Headquarters, London, SE5 8FJ

Do you have a passion for delivering outstanding procurement support within a dynamic and mission-driven organisation? The Salvation Army is looking for a Procurement Operations Assistant to join the Operations Team in our Procurement Unit at our Territorial Headquarters in London.

As part of a collaborative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our procurement processes, managing queries, supporting stakeholders, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your procurement career while making a difference in one of the UK’s most respected charities.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a point of contact for procurement-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Manage the Procurement Maildrop, Task Bar, and telephone call queue to ensure timely and professional responses.
Process and approve purchase requisitions, orders, and supplier onboarding in our P2P system.
Support operational buyers and help manage procurement contracts and catalogue updates.
Run reports and provide performance insights to the Procurement Operations Manager.
Train stakeholders in procurement procedures and offer end-user support on P2P systems.
Troubleshoot issues related to purchase orders, invoicing, and payments.

The successful candidate will have:

Up to 12 months' experience or strong understanding of procurement processes in a complex organisation.
Familiarity with P2P systems and purchasing software such as Unit4 or SAP.
Excellent organisational, administrative and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
A collaborative mindset and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Empathy with the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army.
Experience working in procurement within the third sector (desirable)
