With a recognised degree in occupational therapy or equivalent & registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, you’ll monitor & review occupational therapy care plans against outcome measures & adjust care plans to facilitate achievement of goals.
With strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, you’ll maintain accurate and comprehensive records of assessment and treatment in line with British Association of Occupational Therapy national standards and local policy.
You’ll effectively examine and assess patients, identifying their problems and needs ensuring that medical, psychological, social, environmental and cultural factors are taken in to account.
What’s more, with a flexible attitude and the ability to adapt working in different specialties & different environments, you’ll maintain a calm and professional approach to all duties participating in weekend rota.
It goes without saying, as a naturally empathetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll build rapport & demonstrate compassion towards patients and carers, providing effective advice to individuals during difficult circumstances.
Finally, as a problem solver, with well-developed concentration & analytical skills, you’ll utilise examination and assessment findings to competently plan and carry out realistic programs of treatment from a range of therapeutic options appropriate to each patient using evidence-based practice
To provide service to different clinical areas on a rotational basis working alongside MDT colleagues to assess, treat and discharge plan. To be responsible for own clinical caseload and support senior staff as required.
To attend and participate in per group meetings and take responsibility for driving forward projects generated by these groups. Organise and attend appropriate meetings. To contribute to Service Developments with the team. Demonstrate effective and professional communication with all members of the MDT, patients, relatives and carers. Promote the role of the profession in the wider MDT. Support Rehabilitation Assistants and students as relevant to role. To actively maintain and develop your CPD, taking responsibility for your own learning to maintain professional standards including supervision and reflection.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
As part of our commitment to safeguarding patients and staff, many roles at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone.
What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:
Standard DBS : Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
Enhanced DBS : Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.
Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.
Who Needs a DBS Check
Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.
The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
