About the company
We are a fast-growing startup at the intersection of quantum computing and financial services, applying cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions to solve complex business problems for our clients.
Our mission is to deliver real-world impact through high-quality product development, operational excellence, and strategic client engagement. We value collaboration, curiosity, and ownership, and are building a team that thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to help build the core services behind Qubitra’s applications and turn advanced research into scalable, production-grade systems. This is a hands-on engineering role: you’ll design and build high-performance, cloud-native services that power our quantum and quantum-inspired applications and our trading platform, working closely with quantum researchers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver complex algorithms reliably to enterprise clients.
You’ll own core components end-to-end and grow your influence on architecture and standards over time. We build heavily with AI coding agents, and you’ll use — and help improve — that workflow every day. It’s ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex problem spaces, enjoys working at the meeting point of research and engineering, and reaches for whatever tool or language best fits the problem. It’s hands-on today, with a clear path toward technical leadership as we grow.
Key responsibilities-
Own the design and development of core platform components, including services supporting quantum and quantum-inspired applications and the trading platform.
-
Build scalable, cloud-native services for high-performance, data-intensive workloads.
-
Help translate quantum and machine-learning research into production-ready systems, working with scientists and product teams.
-
Contribute to backtesting, live-trading, and model-validation infrastructure as it scales.
-
Write high-quality, maintainable code across core services and APIs; build and operate distributed systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and correctness.
-
Develop data pipelines, APIs, and compute services supporting advanced algorithms and simulations; contribute to performance tuning and efficient resource use.
-
Uphold engineering standards — testing, CI/CD, observability, and enterprise-grade security.
-
Use and improve our AI-assisted development workflow (sandboxed coding agents), reviewing agent output critically.
-
Support end-to-end delivery from prototype to production, balancing innovation with reliability, and mentor peers as the team grows.
Required experience-
A solid track record as a software engineer, including time at senior level in a high-growth or technically complex environment (this role sits a rung below our Lead Engineer).
-
Strong background in software architecture and distributed systems.
-
Hands-on programming in modern languages (e.g. Python, Go, Java, Rust) — you hold no allegiance to any one and pick up new ones quickly.
-
Experience building and operating cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
-
Proven ability to translate complex technical or research concepts into scalable production systems.
-
Experience delivering high-reliability, secure software for enterprise or data-intensive use cases.
-
Comfort in cross-functional teams with product, research, or data-science stakeholders, balancing technical depth with pragmatic delivery.
-
An AI-native way of working — you already build with coding agents and want to help a team do it well.
Ideal Experience-
Financial-markets or trading-systems experience — backtesting/live trading, market data (e.g. Interactive Brokers), broker/exchange connectivity and protocols (e.g. FIX).
-
Exposure to quantum frameworks (e.g. Qiskit, Cirq) or quantum-inspired optimisation techniques.
-
Machine learning, optimisation algorithms, or scientific computing.
-
High-performance computing (HPC) or large-scale data processing.
-
Building developer platforms, APIs, or data-intensive systems.
-
Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications; advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
What We Offer-
Competitive salary with potential for bonus and equity participation.
-
25 days annual leave, private healthcare, dental, life insurance, wellbeing support, and a learning budget.
-
The chance to work on frontier technology at the intersection of quantum computing and AI.
-
Flexible working (UK-based, remote-friendly) and a collaborative, intellectually curious team.
-
Access to state-of-the-art cloud quantum hardware and simulation environments.
-
A mission-driven environment focused on delivering real-world impact through advanced technology.
Curious but not sure you tick every box? If you’re a strong engineer who loves building at the edge of research and production — and building with AI — we’d still like to hear from you.
