Awaken Genius
We Are Building More Than an Education Programme. We Are Building a Movement
Awaken Genius is an alternative education Community Interest Company (CIC) reimagining what education can become when wellbeing comes before attainment.
We exist to prevent school exclusion, reduce emotional distress, and create pathways where vulnerable children and their families can flourish together. Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—our work recognises that no child thrives in isolation. Healing, learning, and belonging are collective experiences.
We believe education should not simply prepare children for exams; it should prepare families for life.
Our flagship three-year Primary to Secondary Transition Programme creates a safe, trauma-informed, culturally responsive community where children, parents, educators, and therapeutic professionals grow together. Rather than separating education from wellbeing, we weave them together so emotional regulation, identity, creativity, and academic achievement become inseparable.
This is education as prevention.
This is education as healing.
This is education as community.
A Culture of Self-Care
Awaken Genius is helping build a new culture in education where self-care is not treated as a reward after success—it is recognised as the foundation of success.
Every child deserves to feel safe before they are expected to learn.
Every parent deserves the tools to regulate before they are expected to support.
Every educator deserves a community that understands that relationships transform outcomes.
Through shared experiences, creative learning, therapeutic practice, and restorative environments, we are creating a generation of families who understand that emotional wellbeing is not separate from education—it is education.
Our Shared Curriculum
Our families do not attend separate programmes.
Children and parents learn together.
Through our shared curriculum, both generations develop the same language for emotional regulation, communication, resilience, and healthy relationships.
Parents model calm.
Children witness regulation in real time.
Families practise new habits together.
The learning continues long after each session ends because everyone shares the same understanding, vocabulary, and tools.
This creates consistency between home, school, and community, replacing cycles of crisis with cultures of connection.
Wrap-Around Wellbeing
Transformation happens through consistency, not isolated interventions.
That is why every family receives ongoing wrap-around support throughout their journey.
Our ecosystem includes:
- Weekly art-integrated family learning sessions
- Online wellbeing resources for parents and children
- Parent development workshops
- Educator training and support
- Family Wellbeing Day Retreats
- Therapeutic arts experiences
- Creative community events
- Individual guidance where appropriate
Together these experiences help families embed healthy routines that last beyond the programme and become part of everyday life.
Our Flagship Three-Year Programme
Our flagship Primary to Secondary Transition Programme supports families through one of the most significant periods in a child's development.
Rather than focusing solely on academic readiness, we prepare young people emotionally, socially, creatively, and psychologically for secondary education.
Throughout three years, children and parents journey together alongside teachers, educational psychologists, art therapists, facilitators, and community practitioners who work as one multidisciplinary team.
This integrated approach reduces exclusion, strengthens resilience, improves engagement with learning, and builds lasting confidence for both children and their families.
Join the Movement
Freelance Art-Integrated Primary Educator
We are looking for educators who believe teaching is about far more than delivering lessons.
We are seeking creative, trauma-informed practitioners who understand that relationships come before results and that art, movement, storytelling, and play are powerful tools for learning and healing.
You will become part of a multidisciplinary team including Educational Psychologists, Art Therapists, and Art-Integrated Facilitators, delivering engaging literacy and numeracy sessions while helping families develop lifelong emotional regulation skills.
This is not a traditional teaching role.
You will help create experiences where children learn with their parents, where creativity becomes a bridge to confidence, and where education becomes a vehicle for belonging.
What Makes This Different
At Awaken Genius you won't simply teach a class.
You will help nurture a community.
You won't work in isolation.
You'll collaborate with psychologists, therapists, facilitators, and fellow educators.
You won't only support children's learning.
You'll empower entire families to heal, grow, and thrive together.
Before delivering sessions, you'll receive comprehensive specialist training in trauma-informed practice, nervous system regulation, culturally responsive education, and our unique art-integrated approach.
Together, we're creating an educational model where wellbeing becomes the curriculum, relationships become the intervention, and community becomes the classroom.
Because when families heal together, children flourish.
And when children flourish, communities change.
Awaken Genius isn't simply changing education.
We're creating a movement where learning, wellbeing, creativity, and community belong together.
