About us
Westbury Environmental Limited is an environmental consultancy specialising in waste regulation, environmental permitting, compliance, and Environmental Management Systems.
Our work is focused on supporting clients with practical, compliance-led solutions, including regulatory liaison, documentation, and ongoing environmental management. We operate in a structured, delivery-focused way, with a strong emphasis on organisation, accuracy, and accountability.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant. The role is suitable for an experienced consultant operating at senior level, or a principal-level candidate looking for a broad role combining technical delivery, client communication, and team oversight.
About the role
This is a senior-level role requiring a candidate who can operate with confidence, independence, and strong technical capability. The role will support the delivery of environmental consultancy services across a range of client projects, while providing structured oversight across the wider team.
You will be expected to demonstrate strong technical judgement in environmental compliance and waste regulation, reliable delivery across multiple client projects, the ability to review and improve the quality of team outputs, and confidence in decision-making as a trusted escalation point.
This role combines project delivery and team coordination, with responsibility for managing your own client work alongside reviewing outputs and supporting others. You will act as a central point of contact for queries and issues, helping to ensure projects are delivered consistently, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The role will involve regular client and stakeholder communication, including liaison with regulators and third parties where required.
You will also work closely with the Director of Operations, supporting project management processes including budget tracking and lead management, and gaining exposure to the commercial and operational aspects of the business.
This position offers strong potential for growth and progression, particularly for candidates looking to develop into a more strategic or leadership-focused role over time.
Key responsibilities
- Managing your own portfolio of client projects, ensuring delivery is on time and aligned with project requirements.
- Overseeing project management activity across the team to maintain consistency and quality.
- Reviewing technical work completed by team members and providing clear feedback.
- Acting as the main internal contact point for queries, issues, and escalation.
- Supporting the coordination of workloads and priorities across the team.
- Acting as a senior contact for clients, regulators, and third parties where required.
- Supporting project tracking, including budgets, timelines, and delivery performance.
- Contributing to lead tracking and pipeline visibility alongside the Director of Operations.
- Supporting continuous improvement of templates, processes, and delivery standards.
What we're looking for

- Experience reviewing work and ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Commercial awareness, including budgets, scope control, and client expectations.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to take ownership of work and support others.
- Experience supporting or coordinating junior team members.
- Strong attention to detail and structured approach to delivery.
- Proficient across the Microsoft 365 suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint.
- Full UK driving license, with willingness to attend site visits as required.
What you’ll gain
- Exposure to a wide range of client projects and compliance activities.
- Involvement in the operational and commercial aspects of the business.
- The opportunity to contribute to company objectives while working closely with the Director of Operations.
- Scope to progress into a senior management role, with increased responsibility for project delivery and team oversight.
