We are looking for an experienced IoT Solutions Engineer to lead the design, deployment, installation, and maintenance of innovative IoT solutions across the UK.
Role Overview
You will design, build, install, commission, and support end-to-end IoT solutions for public sector and commercial clients. The role involves working with sensors, gateways, communication networks, cloud-connected devices, and monitoring platforms to deliver reliable and secure smart infrastructure solutions.
Projects may include environmental monitoring, river and flood monitoring, air quality monitoring, smart buildings, smart campuses, smart city infrastructure, and intelligent asset monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Design complete IoT monitoring solutions for government and commercial clients.
- Conduct site surveys and recommend suitable IoT hardware and communication technologies.
- Install, configure, and commission IoT sensors, gateways, and monitoring equipment.
- Develop reliable sensor networks for remote and urban environments.
- Configure and maintain environmental monitoring systems.
- Integrate sensors with cloud-based monitoring platforms.
- Perform preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis of deployed IoT systems.
- Produce technical documentation, installation guides, maintenance schedules, and asset registers.
- Deliver proof-of-concept demonstrations and pilot deployments.
- Support customers during installation, commissioning, and post-deployment.
- Ensure solutions comply with health, safety, and relevant industry standards.
- Work with manufacturers and technology partners to evaluate new IoT products.
- Provide technical input into public sector bids and customer proposals.
- Train customers on system operation and maintenance.

Essential Skills
- Proven experience delivering IoT projects from design through deployment.
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies and data acquisition.
- Experience installing and commissioning field-based IoT equipment.
- Knowledge of wireless communication technologies including LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, or cellular connectivity.
- Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, or industrial IoT controllers.
- Understanding of MQTT, Modbus, REST APIs, and other IoT communication protocols.
- Experience integrating IoT devices with cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of GPS-enabled devices and remote telemetry.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Ability to diagnose hardware and communication faults.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Pay: £29,437.80-£33,500.00 per year
