Boland Marine Ltd is an exciting new startup redefining modern boatbuilding in the UK. With active projects across Boland Marine and its sister brand Nyala Boats, the business is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most dynamic emerging names in the marine industry.
Responsibilities
The Graduate Naval Architect will be responsible for:
- Managing own workload and completing tasks within given timeframes.
- Utilising 2D and 3D CAD packages to create and analyse designs composite and metal components.
- Producing 2D fabrication drawings.
- Maintaining a drawing log of all drawings issued.
- Analysing vessel designs including structural, stability, weight and regulatory.
- Working on mechanical assemblies, such as mould tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Capturing the as-built state of vessels.
- Collating data during build and sea trials for further development of vessels.
- Working on refit projects, creating 3D models and drawings of existing vessels.
- Specifying composite repair procedures.
The candidate will be required to follow Boland Marine Ltd Health and Safety policies and attend familiarisation and training before using power or sharp hand tools.
Further work involved in the business can include vessel repairs and refits.
Depending on progress there is scope for candidates to attend Sea Trials and gain experience on vessels on the water. Further training such as Sea Survival, and other such courses deemed necessary by Boland Marine Ltd to fulfil the role or undertake further roles such as attending sea trials, may be required.
Prerequisites
- BEng or MEng 2:2 or better in Naval Architecture or other related degree.
- Experience or knowledge of composite boat building and repairs.
- Awareness of different composite production techniques.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work.
- Proficient communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Willingness to cooperate with workshop staff and assist to further learn how boats are built.
Salary and Benefits
- £27000 per annum.
