- Managing and secure the flow of data across the data platform, ensuring appropriate controls are applied to sensitive or business-critical information.
- Supporting the implementation of data quality, data governance and engineering best practices across data pipelines and analytical solutions.
- Supporting Data Analysts and the wider self-service community by providing reliable, well-structured data assets for dashboards, reports and analytical use cases.
Security, governance and service transition:
- Ensuring data engineering development follows secure software development principles, including coding standards, testing, peer review, version control and controlled promotion between environments.
- Engaging with IT Service Management to transition data engineering deliverables successfully into service provision and ongoing operational support.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant technology platforms, emerging Azure services, Microsoft Fabric capabilities and data engineering practices, evaluating opportunities to improve the data platform where appropriate.
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
- Tracking record of delivering well-engineered data solutions using good engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, peer review, documentation, source control and appropriate release management.
- Experiencing working in a similar role on large projects or programmes, ideally involving multiple systems, stakeholders and data domains.
- Full project lifecycle experience, from requirements and design through to development, testing, deployment, service transition and operational support.
- Knowledge of IT Service Management based on ITIL practices.
