Job Description
The Airport Duty Manager is a key role within the airport operation and community that facilitates, coordinates, and manages diverse airport functions and situations in a safe, secure, compliant and customer focused manner. The Airport Duty Manager ensures business continuity in accordance with varied procedures and key performance indicators while considering the impact on the business, business partners, stakeholders and all customers campus wide in a dynamic environment.
Principle accountabilities

To manage and coordinate the airport operation on a 24-hour basis working closely with the Control Centre and all other departments.

To ensure operational services, facilities and assets are available to meet the needs of the business across the airport campus at all times.

Manage daily operational planning and efficient use of available resources with reference to Key Performance Indicators including financial targets.

Undertake and contribute to forward planning and operational evaluation.

Daily oversight of PRM service, Cleaning contractor and monitoring airport related delays.

To undertake all first stage threat assessments within the airport campus.

Ensure that a risk-based security management systems (SeMs) approach is applied to all activities, with the highest performance and compliance standards at its core.

Maintain a close working relationship with operational stakeholders.

Prepare operational reports as directed, providing analysis on operational trends and potential solutions to issues arising.

Respond effectively and in a timely manner to unexpected situations and circumstances as they arise, while assessing the potential impact to the business.

To ensure compliance with all legal, statutory and company obligations on an ongoing basis including compliance with Department for Transport / CAA directives.

Ensure safety events are recorded within the safety management system, fully investigated and actions arising closed with corrective actions implemented where required.

To direct and coordinate operations during emergency incidents in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, minimising disruption and in accordance with the Emergency Orders.

Work with internal departments and external agencies in the event of critical situations manifesting themselves.

Actively contribute to planning and organisation of ad-hoc events, including coordination of the event.

Responsible for delivering exemplary customer service at all times.

Manage customer feedback through various channels.

Liaison with AIA management, all AIA departments, key business partners, retail concessionaires and control authorities to ensure all customer requirements are understood, met and where possible exceeded.

To review and evaluate terminal operational functions on a regular basis to assess validity of contingency plans and reduce criticality of risk.

Promote the concept of one airport team among business partners and colleagues to deliver a seamless customer experience.

Actively contribute knowledge and expertise to cross-airport initiatives that improve operating efficiencies and customer experience.

Undertake specific projects as directed by the Terminal Operations Manager and others.
Qualifications and experience

Highly developed social skills, allowing for effective interaction and communication (written and oral).

The ability to negotiate while protecting the reputation and interests of the business.

The ability to provide effective leadership in a customer focused environment is essential.

Proven operational and managerial experience, ideally in an airport environment, including resource management, health, safety and security regulations and change management.

Ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Ability to influence and assert at all levels.

Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team when required. The team may include members from varied external organisations with diverse and/or conflicting agendas.

A focussed and innovative approach to developing and managing the business.

IT Literate.

Requirement to be First Aid trained.

This role operates across the entire airport campus and at times out with the airport.
