Restaurant Manager – What's Cooking

Location: Albert Dock, Liverpool
Position: Restaurant Manager
Hours: Full-Time
Progression: Potential progression to Assistant General Manager (AGM)

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and hands-on Restaurant Manager to join the team at Whats Cooking.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their hospitality career. The successful candidate will initially join us as a Restaurant Manager, with the potential to progress into an Assistant General Manager (AGM) position as they develop within the business and demonstrate their ability to take on additional responsibility.

You will work closely with the General Manager and management team to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly, delivers an excellent guest experience and consistently achieves high operational standards.

We are looking for someone who wants to build a career with us, not simply work a shift.

Key Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
Lead, motivate and support the front-of-house team.
Ensure excellent customer service and hospitality standards are maintained.
Take ownership of service, ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently during busy periods.
Manage opening and closing procedures.
Deal confidently and professionally with customer feedback and complaints.
Train, coach and develop team members to help them reach their potential.
Assist with staff rotas, shift planning and team organisation.
Monitor sales, labour, stock, wastage and overall restaurant performance.
Help maintain strong food and beverage standards.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure effective communication between front and back of house.
Ensure health & safety, food hygiene and company procedures are followed.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and restaurant upkeep.
Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
Lead by example and create a positive working environment.
Support the General Manager with the overall management and development of the restaurant.
Take responsibility for the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager.

Progression to AGM

This role is designed for someone who wants to progress.

As your experience and performance develop, there will be the opportunity to progress into an Assistant General Manager role, taking on greater responsibility across the operation and working more closely with the General Manager on the wider performance and development of the business.

Progression will be based on your ability to demonstrate strong leadership, commercial awareness, team development and the ability to take ownership of the restaurant.

What We're Looking For

Previous restaurant management or supervisory experience is essential.
A strong understanding of restaurant operations and service.
A confident and natural leader who can motivate a team.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Someone who is organised, reliable and able to work under pressure.
Commercially aware, with an understanding of sales, labour, stock and wastage.
Confident dealing with customer complaints and challenging situations.
Someone who takes pride in standards and pays attention to detail.
A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved wherever needed.
Ambitious and looking to progress within hospitality.
A positive attitude and the ability to lead by example.
