Salary scale: £48,400 - £50,000 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?

This role will manage as directed technical and acceptance testing on multiple Programmes/projects/enhancements/upgrades as well as support related activities to support existing and inflight Digital Ticketing solutions providing direct benefits to the travelling public.

The role will encompass both Manual and Automation across multiple ticketing mediums including contactless payment, Barcode as well as Web and mobile applications.

The role requires proven experience in testing complex integrations as well as end to end solutions and detailed analysis and handling of defects, in both a waterfall and agile environment.

What can I expect to do in this job?

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to lead and be involved with include:

Support design and production of test cases, scripts, and plans across the lifecycle of projects for all aspects of acceptance, integration, and End to End Testing.
Identify, manage and implement a range of manual as well as automation test scripts utilising identified tool(s) to ensure high quality and enduring testing output and reporting.
Manage as directed all test issues through to completion including detailed analysis and where required issue resolution with both internal and external Suppliers and ensuring provision of status updates to required parties.
Deliver technical documentation and guides as required.
As part of a team ensuring provision and maintenance of a high-quality test environment.
Where appropriate assist with developing internal test practices that complies to the DTS practices and test strategies.
Input where required to test estimations to ensure correct tracking for projects and initiatives.
Apply analytical skills to existing complex IT solutions as well as new and developing Digital Ticketing solutions.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal stakeholders, Customers, Suppliers, and vendors.
Execute tests in the Test portfolio across multiple projects and initiatives.
Where required representing the CBO service at relevant Boards and forums.
Day to day management of own activities and prioritise accordingly.
Aptitude for complex IT systems and messaging.
Ability to work independently to achieve project deliverables & timescales.

Requirements

What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?

The successful candidate will have proven experience in the implementation and execution of testing activities, including test automation, within large and complex solutions.

They will demonstrate a strong track record in the production and delivery of technical documentation, including test artefacts, guides, and supporting materials, as required.

Experience in certification and standards‑based testing is desirable.

The role requires demonstrable experience in interpreting technical specifications, requirements and standards documentation and translating these into robust, traceable test scenarios and test cases. The candidate will also have proven capability in technical problem‑solving, risk identification, and the application of ITIL‑aligned processes.

This position will involve close collaboration with cross‑functional internal teams, as well as technical teams from suppliers, customers and stakeholders.

Candidates must be familiar with industry‑standard test tools and technologies, including ReadyAPI and Postman, Playwright, Selenium, Python, and SQL, alongside test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA and TestRail.

A detailed working knowledge of ITSO specifications and rail‑related standards (including RSPS 3002 and related frameworks) is essential.

Knowledge of cEMV processes and practices is desirable.
