Job summary

This is a critical role within the Central Freedom of Information Team, supporting the department in meeting its statutory obligations under the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation.

Job description

The post holder will manage a portfolio of Freedom of Information casework, ensuring responses are accurate, timely and legally compliant.

Key duties include:

coordinating complex Freedom of Information (FOI) requests,
providing advice to business areas,
managing risks and escalations,
contributing to performance reporting, and
supporting continuous improvement across the FOI operation.

Person specification

Essential Criteria

You must have or be able to get security clearance at SC level.
You must have demonstrable experience of effective stakeholder engagement beyond your own team and be comfortable engaging with senior leaders.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Including,
You must be able to assimilate complex information from a range of sources and turn it into actionable advice, policy, guidance or plans.
You must be comfortable managing multiple and sometimes competing priorities to ensure the right work gets done.
Experience of managing casework, deadlines and competing priorities
Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to apply legislation, guidance and policy with sound judgement.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge / understanding of the Freedom of Information Act.
Experience of working on Freedom of Information requests.
