About the Job

Fixed Term Maternity Cover: Until March 2027 (or upon the return of the post holder, whichever is sooner)

The School of Psychology and Behavioural Science is seeking a fixed term maternity cover Lecturer in Psychology post. The post will require you to undertake teaching, assessment and related activities, primarily on our BPS accredited BSc courses as well as our MSc in Psychology Conversion course. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary scholarly activities to enhance the impact and profile of the faculty’s outputs.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. About you

A good educational background in Psychology is essential for this role, along with a PhD or near completion. Candidates with expertise in Health Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology is a distinct advantage, as well as experience teaching in Higher Education on the BPS core curriculum (Levels 4–7).

Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and organisational skills are essential, along with proficiency in IT, including visual learning environments and remote teaching platforms. A commitment to delivering a personalized and supportive student learning experience is vital.

Qualifications

Essential;

Honors Degree qualification or equivalent in Psychology with eligibility for GBC with the British Psychological Society.
Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months to completion.

Desirable;

Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology or related discipline
Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2)or a teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or a willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale.
