About Nourish and Nurture
Primary Care Dietitians are proud to deliver the Nourish and Nurture programme on behalf of Doncaster Council, a leader in compassionate approaches to weight.
Nourish and Nurture is a new and innovative service supporting first-time families from as early as possible in their pregnancy or adoption process, helping them gain the knowledge, practical skills and tools to give themselves and their child the best possible nutrition.
It is well recognised that having a nutritious and healthy diet is heavily influenced by our surroundings and our circumstances, not simply by personal choice.
The focus of the service is on making small, sustainable behavioural changes. These goals are not traditional targets of weight management but considering broader outcomes such as family harmony, self-esteem, physical activity and food behaviours.
The aim is that families, and particularly children, are enabled to have a positive and peaceful relationship with food, reducing body image stigma, with the approach sustained through training offered to other professionals and peer supporters.
As this is a new programme, evaluation is carried out from the outset and there is an expectation that this will inform continuous change and improvement.

Role Summary
This role is key to the day-to-day operational success of the programme. You will be the organising presence behind the service, keeping participants moving smoothly through the programme and keeping our records accurate and up to date.
You do not need a degree or any formal qualification for this post, and we would suggest that the right candidate would have around 2 years of administrative and/or customer facing experience. What matters is that you are well organised, confident with people, capable with a computer, willing to learn and enthusiastic about supporting new parents.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of service delivery, including:
- booking delivery venues and events
- scheduling and posting content to our digital and social media platforms
- capturing simple photo and video content on a phone where required
- reviewing and moderating social media feeds for appropriateness of content
- managing push message notifications to families signed up to the digital platform
- recording enquiries and directing them to the most appropriate person in the team
You will support families directly by:
- undertaking an initial triage of referrals for appropriateness
- telephoning participants and booking them into their preferred or most suitable option
- sending reminders and managing cancellations and non-attendances
You will support the improvement and growth of the programme by:
- collating and maintaining accurate data on participants, engagement and outcomes
- supplying clean, reliable data to the team and to external evaluators
- gathering local intelligence and building relationships across Doncaster and beyond
- identifying, with the rest of the team, opportunities to improve how the programme is delivered
Key Responsibilities
1. Promote the service
Working with the Nourish and Nurture team, the Primary Care Dietitians leadership team and commissioners, you will positively promote the service to potential service users and referral agents. This will include attending events across Doncaster throughout the life of the project.
2. Participant triage and booking
Speaking directly with first-time families by telephone, you will work through an initial set of triage questions to confirm eligibility and help direct people to the most suitable element of the service. You will then book them into the most appropriate option, send reminders, and manage cancellations and non-attendances.
3. Data entry, records and reporting support
You will maintain accurate records of participants, referrals, attendance and engagement, working primarily in Microsoft Excel and our clinical and booking systems. You will collate data on numbers and types of participants, length of engagement, and the successes and challenges they experience.
You will supply this data to the team to support continuous improvement and reporting to commissioners and to the Primary Care Dietitians Board. You are not expected to write commissioner reports; the leadership team will do this using the data you provide.
4. Room and event booking
You will book venues for groups, one-to-one clinics and drop-in sessions, ensuring invoices are correctly directed to enable prompt payment. You will also book training venues and refreshments for events during years 2 and 3.
5. Digital and social media content
Part of the service is delivered through our digital and social media platforms. You will organise and schedule content, write clear and appropriate accompanying copy, and capture simple photo or video content on a phone where needed. You do not need video editing skills, but you do need to be comfortable with how social media platforms work.
You will monitor comments made by group members to ensure they remain within the agreed rules of the group and of the platform, taking the agreed action where they do not.
6. Manage push messages to subscribed parents
Supporting the leadership team, you will call families who have signed up for them in a timely way and are appropriate to their level of need.
7. Community engagement and service development
You will build and maintain relationships across Doncaster, attending networking events with council colleagues, family hub staff and partner organisations. You will gather local intelligence about community need and about opportunities for the service to develop.
This includes helping us understand where similar support could benefit communities beyond the Doncaster Council area, and feeding that intelligence back to the leadership team.
8. Support evaluation of the programme
As this is a new way of delivering a service, we work with external evaluators. You will liaise with them and with partner organisations to provide appropriate data, subject to the Data Protection Act and to data sharing agreements being in place and up to date.
You will also support continuous improvement by helping to change the systems and processes used in the programme where participant feedback indicates this could benefit a reasonable proportion of families.
9. Contribute as a member of the team
You will be an active, accountable member of the wider Primary Care Dietitians team. We expect you to share your ideas openly, contribute to team discussion, take responsibility for your own work, and be willing to learn and develop in new areas. This is a small and collaborative organisation and your voice matters in how the service is shaped.
