Summary:

At South East Water, we believe water is the lifeblood of our region, and as a Compliance Sampler, you become the frontline guardian of public health. You will ensure that every drop of water reaching our customers is wholesome, safe, and meets the highest regulatory standards. This is a purpose-driven career where you work independently in the field to make a tangible difference.

This dynamic, field-based position offers a unique variety each day. You will use your initiative to navigate your assigned routes, ensuring the integrity of our water supply by collecting samples from critical locations such as treatment works, service reservoirs, and directly from customer properties. Your role involves performing on-site tests, performing quality control checks, and recording precise data into our laboratory systems. You are the face of South East Water, and your ability to interact professionally with the public is essential as you explain the sampling process to customers.

We are looking for a dependable and organised individual who takes pride in the accuracy of their work and is confident using IT systems and handheld devices for data entry and navigation. You will need a valid UK driving licence as you will be responsible for a company vehicle, but no previous experience is required—your attitude and commitment to safety are what matter most.

Based at our Pembury, Kent depot, you will typically start your day between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, finishing around 3:00 PM. Because water quality is a constant priority, you will participate in a weekend and bank holiday rota to ensure continuous compliance. Main responsibilities:

The collection of samples from a variety of locations and undertake water quality investigations.
Performing on-site tests and quality control checks in accordance with South East Water and the Water Quality regulatory standards.
Planning your routes and self-managing your time to ensure deadlines are met.
Ensuring all paperwork and electronic records are maintained to the required standard.
Organising sampling in conjunction with water production staff to ensure the plant is running at time of sampling.
Taking part in a weekend rota, where you will deliver samples to our laboratory in Farnborough

Skills / Qualifications / Experience (Essential)

A valid driving licence is essential
Good level of numeracy and literacy skills
Good customer service being comfortable speak with customers and explaining why and how you’re there to help them
Confident with IT / Computers
