Role Summary

As our Production Manager, you’ll be leading and mentoring the Team Leaders and Production teams to take all the necessary actions, measures and controls to ensure we deliver to our customers’ exacting requirements, and we meet our delivery commitments to them.

Quality is key, so you’ll ensure our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards and measures. You’ll track, resolve, and prevent customer returns, customer complaints, and any internal yield failures.

Role Accountabilities and Key Measures

Effective Production planning/scheduling to ensure we meet customer requested delivery date and our delivery commitment
Ensure that goods are made to the highest quality and as per customer requirements. Ensuring effective Work In Progress (WIP) management and control
Working with the Operations Manager, Quality Management and Engineers ensure continuous improvement of the internal and external quality of the product and processes. Acting on quality issues identified as appropriate
Effectively communicate with your team by conducting daily/weekly production meetings (the role currently has one direct report in a team of ten)
Professional and productive communication with our customers and our internal teams on WIP
Implement measures to track, resolve and prevent customer returns, customer complaints, and internal yield failures
Manage and control employee costs including overtime costs
Managing performance and any team issues in a timely and professional manner. Recruit, develop, and retain a highly motivated production team
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies, root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve productivity and quality performance
Experience using ERP/MRP systems for production planning and scheduling
Comfortable working directly with customers to provide updates and resolve delivery or quality concerns
Ensure that all employees are aware of the health and safety policy and receive relevant training and full compliance with the company's health and safety policy and procedures. Maintaining a good standard of housekeeping to ensure a safe environment. Investigating all accidents, reporting and minimising risk as needed
Support the Operations Manager with new projects/products being introduced

Key Measures

On Time Delivery to customer request and commit (95%+ target)
Delivered quality measured by internal yield i.e. value of defective WIP, scrappage costs including remake, cost of rework plus external measure of returns and credit note costs
Labour and cost management including overtime costs
Arrears tracking and reduction
Customer Scorecard/Customer Feedback

About You

We would love you to have all the skills and experience listed below but are also happy to consider applicants who can evidence being a hands-on people manager, who understands a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a keen eye for quality production.

Proven track record in production management
Experience and skills to lead and motivate a team with good communication skills both written and verbal
Proven planning and organisational skills
Experience in fast moving Lean manufacturing environment with the ability to work at pace and prioritise effectively
Computer literate with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Flexible team player with good problem-solving abilities
Practical work experience in an electronics environment would be an advantage
