Full job description

Originally formed as part of Westland's Engineers Ltd in 1948, as part of a diversification strategy away from military products, Garador Limited was setup to manufacture one piece garage doors.

Today, Garador is one of the UKs largest manufacturers of up and over & side-hinged doors. With a focus on continual investment in both production technology and product development, Garador is at the forefront of modern garage door manufacturing and now have one of the most modern garage door manufacturing facilities in Europe. Employing 125 people at our Yeovil plant this is an exciting opportunity for the right person to be part of the Garador team.

We are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, experienced site HSE Lead to join our team based at our Yeovil site. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will manage Health & Safety and Environmental on a day-to-day basis supporting the site Leadership team and colleagues to build capabilities and maintain Legal Compliance.

The HSE Site Lead role needs to be a key influencer to ensure that the site is achieving legislative compliance, zero losses and developing a safety culture through engagement and capability building of our colleagues.

The role requires the ability to facilitate change and be involved in interesting and diverse projects which will improve safety and behaviours at the site.

Development and implementation of procedures to ensure legal compliance is achieved and maintained.

Building capabilities through coaching, mentoring and engagement to drive positive safety culture at all levels on site.

Ensuring that Health and Safety performance indicators are tracked with expectations understood and annual plans developed to drive continuous improvement.

Determining and prioritising of the site loss opportunities manage HSE budget and annual capital allocation.

Acting as a proactive and energetic member of the leadership team to lead and deliver a welcoming and supportive function to the site.

Essential knowledge, skills, and experience

· A safety professional with good manufacturing experience who is looking to further develop their career in HSE.

· To have or be working towards a National NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Essential)

· To have or be working towards a IEMA/NEBOSH Environmental Certificate (Essential)

· Internal Auditing Qualification

· Able to demonstrate good influencing skills

· Experience of working with Unions and committees to drive improvements in culture and performance

· Excellent understanding of relevant health, safety & environmental legislation/law and how it is practically applied

· Good understanding of change management

· Able to demonstrate effective teamwork at all levels of the business.
