Job Introduction
We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager (Handover) within our Completions & Transitions team here at SCS Railways, specifically supporting the Structures & Earthworks Delivery Unit.
About the role:
The Project Manager - Handover (Structures & Earthworks Delivery Unit, SEDU) is responsible for leading and project managing the end‑to‑end assurance completion, transition and handover of HS2 assets to the Client and third parties.
Building and maintaining great relationships will be essential for fulfilling the role.
This is a hands‑on project management role, acting as a focal point between Delivery, Quality, Technical Assurance, Planning, BIM, Document Control.
This role will plan, coordinate and report on construction assurance activities, ensuring that assurance programmes and trackers are in place at each asset s and that these are actively managed by the delivery teams.
The role is to manage and coordinate others to ensure that all contractual, technical and assurance requirements are defined early, embedded into delivery, progressively assured and successfully completed.
It will require leading engagement with the Client (HS2) and third‑party stakeholders, including Local Authorities, to support external handovers and transitions Railways Systems.
It will support continuous improvement of processes and ways of working.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate progressive project completion, assurance deliverables and acceptance activities across project assets to meet programme.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, clients, stakeholders and third parties to support successful project outcomes.

Promote a collaborative approach to project delivery through clear communication, relationship building and stakeholder engagement.

Act as a key point of coordination between delivery, engineering, quality, assurance, information management and client teams to resolve handover deliverables issues and maintain progress.

Ensure handover deliverables are planned, produced, reviewed, assured, accepted and transferred in accordance with project requirements.

Work closely with planning, delivery and technical teams to ensure project completion and assurance activities are integrated into project programmes and accurately tracked.

Monitor and report on handover deliverable progress, status, risks and key performance indicators using trackers, dashboards and visual management tools.

Identify, track and manage actions, risks and issues that may impact project completion or acceptance activities.

Coordinate progressive handover assurance readiness reviews, acceptance activities to support achievement of contractual milestones and handover programme.

Provide regular updates and presentations on progress, key achievements, priorities and areas requiring attention.

Coordinate / manage production of close-out deliverables including: Construction Certificates, Redline Drawings, Health & Safety Files, Operations and Maintenance Manuals, Principal Contractor transfers, final snag lists, Defects / Consolidated Outstanding Works Lists etc.

Manage document review and approval processes within project information systems, ensuring timely completion and client / stakeholder acceptance.
The Ideal Candidate
- Main contractor / large project experience highly desirable

Confident working with digital assurance systems and dashboards.

Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Power BI).

Line management experience desirable

Degree level education or similar

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
