Why You Will Love this Job
The job will dictate the hours of work, but generally your times will be between 08:00 – 16:30 (Diesel) Monday to Friday.
24/7 On call cover in line with QC84 On Call Rota
- To ensure all ISO procedures, employee handbook and safe systems of work are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain all PPE, workwear, tooling and vehicles to a high standard and serviceable condition.
- Dress smartly in clean WBPS branded uniform and PPE.
- Review and understand upcoming works and the requirement of parts and tooling, confirm availability of these and location.
- Adhere to all site specific rules and H+S requirement where they exceed ours.
- Complete QC111 Site Specific Risk Assessment before starting any works.
- Communicate professionally with all external and internal customers, ensuring that all communication is positive, in the best interest of the company and based on fact.
- Make positive contact with the customer prior to your arrival time (minimum 30 minutes), unless other contractual arrangements are in place ie CHP and unmanned sites. On arrival to site, report to site contact and explain what you will be doing and give realistic timescales, highlighting any known risks.
- Attend site with all the parts and tooling required to carry out the proposed works.
- Carry out all works to the highest possible standards and in line with QC496 Risk and Method Statement.
- Maintain the highest standards of house keeping and ensure your working area is managed effectively by you at all times to mitigate any risk to others. Communicate on completion of works with the customer, reviewing your completed report and any recommendations. Obtain the customers signature for acceptance of completed works and parts used.
- Report all recommendations via PDA, Further Work Report (SO49), ensure details are clear, precise and include;
- Reason for recommendation
- Description of recommended works and any special information
- Parts required to complete recommended works, include part numbers or engine/gen/alternator details to enable identification and procurement
- Tools required to complete works
- Timescale and specific engineer requirements (Elec/Mech), NB consider worst case and competition
- Call your office contact daily and on completion of works, advise on progress and availability.
- Instigate QC19 Lone Working Procedure with the office on all unmanned sites or where identified as a risk mitigation via QC111
- Ensure all relevant parts and expenses are assigned to the job prior to completion, submit any expenses electronically via Protean to office at point of purchase, all purchases must be pre authorised by your Line Manager.
- Update Protean in real time, ensuring all reports are professional and factual.
- Obtain the customers PO, written instruction or Line Manager approval for any attendance time or parts supply which exceeds the agreed scope of works, and for all out of hours call outs.
- Attend emergency call outs as and when required punctually, professionally and within the SLA or agreed timeframe.
- Do not leave a generator or any emergency equipment isolated or unavailable without obtaining specific instruction and acceptance in writing by the client.
- Drive safely and courteously and always within the legal requirements, to include vehicle loads and goods carriage regulations.
- Complete QC22 vehicle checklist daily or prior to using/towing any other vehicle.
- Attend toolbox talks and training where required.
- Report all safe and unsafe acts, accidents and environmental risks.
- Look for innovation and make suggestions towards improvement of procedures and or asset condition and maintenance.
- Keep up to date with the latest best working practices and technology within your field.
- Support others and share experience and expertise, as a team anything is achievable!
- Assist qualified engineers on site
- Pull cable, assist with testing as directed
- Collect parts from depot and take to sites as required
- Collect/drop off load banks
