Full job description

We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Practice Consultants, new to Norfolk County Council . Amount to be repaid in full should you leave within two years of employment.

For experienced Social Workers new to Norfolk County Council, we promise to try and match or better your existing salary, providing it's in the spectrum of the grade advertised.

As a Practice Consultant, you will champion high‑quality, strengths‑based practice. You will help practitioners to move away from rigid processes and towards responsive, person‑led, relational decision‑making.

You will work closely with the management team to support day‑to‑day operations and champion strengths‑based, community‑focused practice.

You will provide expert coaching, reflective practice and professional guidance, helping staff develop confidence, curiosity and professional judgement.

As a Practice Consultant within the team, you will lead, manage and support a team of case‑holding Assistant Practitioners and Social Workers. As part of your role, you will oversee workflow within a fast‑paced and dynamic environment and provide high‑quality casework consultation and professional guidance. You will also coordinate workloads to ensure measurable progress and embed a positive, high‑performing team culture.

You will contribute to developing practice quality and guidance materials to support the ongoing development and embedding of Community‑Led Support and Human Learning Systems.

In addition, you will coordinate workloads to ensure measurable progress and embed a positive, high‑performing team culture. You will strengthen relationships with local communities and voluntary groups.

To build meaningful relationships with the people we support, this role requires regular in-person work in both the office and community.

Requirements

Registered Social Worker
Minimum of three years’ post qualifying experience.
Experience supporting others with complex situations such as safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act or housing issues.
A strong communicator who can bring people together and influence positive change.

This may be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking for your first post in a management role.
