Full job description

Steel Straightening Press Operative:

As a General / Straightening Operative you will be expected to perform a number of duties as per the business requirements, which include:

Operating of straightening and camber presses

Overhead crane / ForkLift / Side Loader movements

Unload stock material ready for processing / fabrication

Load processed and fabricated material

Assisting in the operating of T splitting manual machine

Yard movements of steel stock (plates/beams/columns)

Internal material movement using overhead crane

Occasional use of handheld power tools (grinder/drill)

General housekeeping yard and workshop upkeep

About You:

This position requires a positive and enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail, able to follow clear instructions and work as part of a team to achieve set tasks and targets. The successful candidate will be physically fit and familiar working in a fast-paced heavy industry environment.

The individual must have a flexible and dynamic approach to working hours be willing and able to commit to overtime when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Fork Lift Truck Licence (B1 / B3) and have a minimum of 1 year’s fork lift driving experience

· Side Loader Licence (C1) (desirable)

· Experience in the steel industry, with an understanding of material specifications and dimensions (desirable)

· Overhead Crane

· Must have strong written and spoken English.

· You will have excellent time keeping, positive attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Place of Work:

Midland Road, Scunthorpe, DN16 1DQ

Working Hours:

· Monday – Thursday

· 2pm - 12pm

· Overtime is available during the week and occasional weekends paid at 1 hour 45 minutes

Place of Work: Midland Road, Scunthorpe, DN16 1DQ

· Permanent contract after successful probation period.

· Paid breaks

· Company pension scheme.

· Overtime rate 1 hour 45mins

Please note: this position will initially be on days whilst training - 6-2 / 8-4 and will then go on to a permanent 2-12 Monday-Thursday shift having Friday, Saturdays and Sundays off.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £27,080.00-£34,222.76 per year
