Job Title: Assistant Manager & Internal Sales Executive
Job Purpose:
To support the Branch Manager in the successful day-to-day operation of the Hemel Hempstead branch, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient branch operations, and the achievement of sales targets.
The Assistant Branch Manager / Internal Sales Executive will play a key role in developing existing customer relationships whilst proactively generating new business opportunities through outbound sales activity, prospecting, and customer engagement. The role will also involve handling inbound sales enquiries, supporting trade counter operations, and taking full responsibility for the branch during periods when the Branch Manager is absent.
Principal Accountabilities:

To assist the Branch Manager with the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the branch.

To assume responsibility for the branch and its operations in the absence of the Branch Manager, ensuring continuity of service and adherence to Company procedures.

To support and assist the Branch Manager wherever required to achieve branch objectives and sales targets.

To proactively generate new business opportunities through outbound telephone calls, prospecting, lead generation, customer visits where appropriate, and follow-up activity.

To identify and develop new customer accounts within the branch trading area.

To build strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring excellent levels of service and identifying opportunities to increase sales.

To handle all inbound sales enquiries professionally and efficiently by telephone, email, website, and in person.

To follow up quotations and sales opportunities with the aim of converting enquiries into orders.

To promote new product ranges, special offers, and Company initiatives to maximise sales revenue.

To assist on the Trade Counter as required, providing customers with a prompt, professional, and knowledgeable service.

To process customer orders accurately and efficiently.

To resolve customer queries and refer any issues beyond authority levels to the Branch Manager where appropriate.

To assist with warehouse and branch duties when required to support operational efficiency.

To make customer deliveries when required and authorised by the Branch Manager.

To maintain high standards of housekeeping, health and safety, and presentation throughout the branch.

To conduct all business activities professionally and represent the Company positively at all times.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Branch Manager or senior management.

Previous internal sales, trade counter, or branch operations experience.

A proven track record of generating sales through both inbound and outbound activity.

Confidence in prospecting and developing new business opportunities.

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.

Strong organisational and administrative abilities.

The ability to work independently and take ownership when managing the branch in the Branch Manager's absence.

A proactive, positive, and flexible attitude.

Good IT skills and experience using sales/order processing systems.

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
