We are currently recruiting a Wildlife Assistant to join us at our East Winch Wildlife Centre on a temporary 6 month Fixed term contract basis to assist with the rehabilitation of wild animal casualties and their integration back to the wild.
East Winch Wildlife Centre is one of four RSPCA wildlife centres based in England that supports the rehabilitation of sick, injured, orphaned and confiscated wildlife.

Working hours - 35 hours per week over a 4-5 week. Weekends will be required (working up to 3 in every 4). This will be a rolling rota with both early and late shifts.

What a day might look like for you

Join our incredible team at East Winch Wildlife Centre as a Wildlife Assistant. We pride ourselves on catering to the diverse needs of our wildlife patients, ranging from smaller nestling and fledgling birds, wood mice, bats and hedgehogs to the larger waterfowl and seabird species to our foxes, badgers and seal pups.
As a Wildlife Assistant, your responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our facilities, providing hands-on care and rehabilitation for various wildlife species.
You'll also collaborate with different departments and organisations to ensure the well-being of our animal patients.

What will help you succeed in this role:
To excel in this role, we are looking for individuals with previous experience in animal care, particularly in animal welfare or charity settings. Essential skills include wild animal handling, assessment, and first aid, along with emotional resilience to handle distressed wildlife.
Your days will be dynamic and demanding, requiring excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently and to communicate effectively with the wider team. Additionally, proficiency in maintaining digital records and access to reliable transportation are important for this position.
Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
