Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills and experience. This role is crucial for ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while maintaining high-quality standards.
Production & Operational Management
· Ensure the daily production plan issued by the Planning Team is executed effectively and on schedule.
· Monitor production performance to ensure delivery targets, quality standards, and efficiency levels are achieved.
· Ensure all machines are running efficiently and downtime is minimised.
· Coordinate labour allocation and machine loading to maximise productivity and resource utilisation.
· Ensure production activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
· Monitor shop floor discipline, housekeeping, and adherence to operational standards.
· Ensure production issues are escalated promptly and resolved effectively.
· Lead shift handovers and communicate operational priorities clearly to the team.
· Support internal and external audits by ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training matrix, and related documentation are maintained, accurate, and up to date in line with company policies and compliance requirements.
Staff Management & Leadership
· Lead, motivate, and manage production operators and team members.
· Ensure all team members clearly understand their responsibilities, targets, and performance expectations.
· Conduct attendance monitoring, and disciplinary discussions where required.
· Identify training and development needs and support multi-skilling within the team.
· Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working culture.
· Ensure operators are present at workstations and ready to commence work at the start of shift.
· Maintain effective communication between departments including Planning, Quality, Engineering, Technical, HR Logistics and FICO
SAP & TopFlow Responsibilities
· Ensure all operator bookings within SAP and TopFlow are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
· Verify that machine hours recorded in SAP and TopFlow accurately reflect production activity.
· Monitor and maintain accurate production data and shop floor transactions.
· Carry out daily reviews of production deviations, downtime, scrap, and machine utilisation.
· Analyse deviations to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
· Ensure all production confirmations, job completions, and reporting activities are accurately processed.
· Work closely with Planning and FICO teams to ensure data integrity and operational accuracy.
· Support continuous improvement of SAP and TopFlow processes and reporting accuracy.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
· Ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards and customer specifications.
· Support Right First Time (RFT) and On Time In Full (OTIF) targets.
· Investigate non-conformances and support corrective action implementation within defined timeframes
· Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities across the department.
· Identify opportunities to improve machine efficiency, workflow, and operational performance.
· Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and process controls.
Health & Safety
· Ensure all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, COSHH requirements, and PPE standards are followed.
· Promote a strong safety culture and proactively address unsafe behaviours or conditions.
· Participate in safety audits, accident investigations, and corrective action implementation.
· Ensure equipment and working areas are maintained to safe operational standards.
Background and experience
· Good understanding and ability to communicate in English
· Strong leadership and people management skills, although some training will be given
· Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations.
· Experience using SAP and/or Top Flow systems within a production environment.
· Ability to analyse production data and identify operational improvements.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Good understanding of Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
· Strong communication and organisational skills.
· Competent in Microsoft Office applications
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively
Schedule
- 48 hours (4 x12hr shifts out of 7 per week)
- 7am to 7pm when on Day shift
- 7pm to 7am when on Night shift
Experience
- Whilst full training will be provided, the candidate will ideally have previous supervisory experience, good interpersonal and communicational skills and have the drive/motivation to successfully run a busy production department.
