Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ISVA Support Worker (preferably or working towards becoming an IDVA Support Worker) to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide empathetic support, guidance, and advocacy to individuals affected by domestic violence, ensuring they feel heard, safe, and empowered throughout their recovery journey. Your proactive approach will help create a trusting environment where survivors can access the help they need with confidence and dignity. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while developing your skills within a supportive organization committed to social justice and survivor-centered care.

Responsibilities

Offer emotional support and practical guidance to survivors of domestic violence, respecting their individual needs and choices
Assist clients in understanding their options for reporting incidents or seeking legal, medical, and counseling services
Advocate on behalf of survivors to ensure their rights are upheld within various systems, including law enforcement, healthcare, and social services
Maintain accurate and confidential case records, documenting interactions and support plans clearly and professionally
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that prioritise survivor safety and well-being
Provide information about available resources, including counselling, housing, and legal assistance
Support clients through difficult processes such as court proceedings or medical examinations with sensitivity and reassurance

Experience

Experience working with vulnerable adult populations is highly desirable
Previous experience in a support worker role or similar environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Strong communication skills with the ability to listen actively and respond empathetically
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding policies, and ethical practice
