Full job description

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Band 7 Biomedical Scientist with experience or a keen interest in quality to work within the Cellular pathology department, Salisbury District Hospital.

The successful candidate will:
Hold registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) as a Biomedical Scientist. Have a BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent. Have a MSC in a relevant subject, Member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (MIBMS) or equivalent experience.

To manage and be in technical charge of multiple sections of the service. Required to check and maintain all aspects in quality of the work, to detect problems and take appropriate remedial action where necessary. Manage daily staff rotas for work allocation for Biomedical Scientists, new staff, students, and support staff.

To support the training and supervision of Biomedical Scientists, Trainee Biomedical Scientists and support staff in the department, develop and improve professional expertise and specialist skills as required by the changing needs of the service. To foster a culture of continual learning. You will have great communication skills and leadership qualities to empower your team in a complex and busy department alongside the training officer.

To ensure technical standards are maintained through internal and external QA schemes in accordance with ISO 15189:2022 standards for accreditation.

To manage the servicing, calibration and validation of the equipment and instruments in the department.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service.

Laboratory working hours, Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm.
