We are currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Basingstoke.
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the UK region. The role requires a highly skilled networking professional who will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and operational excellence of the local network infrastructure while acting as the primary liaison between local site operations, the offshore Network Operations Center (NOC), and third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary Network SPOC for the UK region, coordinating all network-related activities and serving as the first point of contact for stakeholders.
- Manage and resolve LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi incidents, with a focus on Priority incidents and service restoration.
- Coordinate with the offshore NOC team and bridge communication between local site teams, global operations, and external vendors.
- Work closely with ISPs and hardware vendors to expedite troubleshooting, hardware replacement, and circuit restoration for in-scope services.
- Perform hands-on installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of:
- Network Switches
- Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
- Wireless Access Points (AP)
- Other in-scope network infrastructure devices
- Ensure adherence to network security standards by implementing and maintaining:
- Network access controls
- Firewall policies
- Security best practices
- Maintain accurate documentation including:
- Network topology diagrams
- Asset inventory
- Configuration backups
- Operational documentation
- Monitor network availability and performance using SolarWinds and proactively identify potential issues.
- Support network changes, maintenance activities, and infrastructure upgrades during planned maintenance windows.
- Participate in root cause analysis and drive preventive actions for recurring issues.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure compliance with operational processes, SLAs, and governance.
Required Skills Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Enterprise Network Operations and Support.
- Strong expertise in:
- Routing Switching (Cisco preferred)
- Wireless Technologies (Cisco WLC, Access Points)
- LAN/WAN technologies
- Network troubleshooting
- Experience working with enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
- Good understanding of network security concepts, firewall policies, and access control mechanisms.
- Experience coordinating with ISPs, telecom providers, and hardware vendors.
- Excellent incident management, stakeholder communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently as the sole regional networking representative.
- Strong documentation and operational governance skills.
Preferred Certifications
- CCNP Enterprise (Preferred)
- Cisco Wireless certifications or equivalent (Preferred)
