What you’ll be doing
In this role the Head of Transformation leads the transformation delivery team, with day-to-day responsibility for managing the team, building its capability and embedding consistent best practice and delivery standards across all initiatives. Reporting to the Transformation Director, the role turns the transformation strategy into well-run, well-governed delivery. Ensuring the team has the skills, methods, tools and ways of working to deliver initiatives to a high standard, at pace and with measurable impact. The Head leads a team of four Programme Managers (each with a Project Manager) and works closely with the AI Lead, Change Managers and Transformation Analyst to ensure joined-up, high-quality delivery across the portfolio.
As such, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage and develop the transformation delivery team, including four Programme Managers and their Project Managers.

Set clear objectives, priorities and performance expectations, and manage performance to a consistently high standard.

Provide coaching, support and direction to build an engaged, motivated and high-performing team.

Plan team capacity and resourcing to match the demands of the transformation portfolio.

Support recruitment, onboarding and succession planning across the team.

Assess current team capability and identify skills gaps across the programme and project delivery team.

Design and deliver a capability-building plan; training, mentoring, accreditation and knowledge-sharing, to raise delivery skills across the team.

Develop individuals through structured development plans, stretch opportunities and coaching.

Keep the team current with external best practice, tools and methods in transformation and delivery.

Define, embed and continuously improve the team’s delivery methodology, standards and templates; planning, governance, reporting, risk and benefits.

Establish consistent ways of working so initiatives are delivered to a common, high standard across the portfolio.

Champion quality assurance and lessons-learned, turning insight into improved practice.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and collaboration within the team.

Oversee delivery of programmes and projects across the team, ensuring they are well-planned, governed and on track.

Monitor progress, risks, issues and dependencies across the portfolio, stepping in to unblock and support where needed.

Ensure consistent, reliable reporting on delivery, outcomes and benefits to the Transformation Director.

Ensure delivery aligns with agreed priorities, value expectations and governance.

Work closely with the AI Lead, Change Manager and Transformation Analyst (Value Creation) to ensure delivery, adoption and value are joined up.

Build strong relationships with business and operational teams to support effective delivery and adoption.

Experience defining and embedding delivery standards, methodologies and ways of working.

Strong stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills.

Commercial awareness and a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
