Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Regulatory Reporting Analyst for Statistical Reporting to join our team.

This role is for a subject matter expert in statistical reporting for our UK entities, including submissions to the Bank of England and FCA for SMBC Bank International plc, SMBC London Branch and SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Ltd and its subsidiaries. Key requirements include:

the production of complete and accurate statistical reporting submissions, including appropriate governance and controls
implementation of enhancements to report production processes to increase automation and efficiency
support of regulatory change programmes, new product implementations and other updates as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of Bank of England statistical reporting requirements and industry best practice, including controls and governance
Proven ability to work efficiently with large volumes of data in preparation of returns and implementation of changes, using systems such as MS Excel, PowerBI, Alteryx, Copilot, SQL and VBA
Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including condensing data for senior management consumption

Business Area

The EMEA region comprises a number of SMBC branches, and separate legal entities in London and Frankfurt. Each entity has a number of regulatory reporting requirements.

In the UK, SMBC Bank International PLC (“SMBC BI”), SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Limited (“CM Limited”) and SMBC London branch are required to submit regular prudential, statistical and risk-related reports to local regulators (PRA, FCA and Bank of England). These cover a variety of reporting disciplines including balance sheet, Liquidity, Credit Risk and Large exposures. In addition to external reporting the Bank must also monitor key ratios on a daily basis, and the reporting includes COREP (including Own Funds, Large Exposures and Liquidity submissions), Pillar 3, PRA/FCA Prudential and Bank of England Statistical Returns.

Position Description
Produce statistical reporting outputs on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis, ensuring that controls are operating effectively to generate complete and accurate submissions
Lead production of management review materials, providing commentary on results for key templates including drivers of material movements
Manage communication with the Bank of England related to submission queries
Identify opportunities for enhancements and automation to increase efficiency and lead implementation through collaboration with Data Management Office, Regulatory Change and Front Office
Review new products as part of the New Product Approval, assessing statistical reporting implications and ensuring that relevant requirements are appropriately addressed through the implementation process
Complete testing for regulatory change programmes and other updates as required
