We have an exciting opportunity at our production plant in Middlewich, Cheshire, for a Mechanical / Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring plant and equipment remain safe, reliable and operational to achieve required production levels.
Working as part of the maintenance team, you will play an important role in minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
The Role
This is a 4 on / 4 off, days-only shift pattern, working 12-hour shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on site plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults efficiently to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs during planned production downtime.
- Contribute to efficiency and reliability improvements across all areas of the site.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and report recommendations to site management.
- Complete maintenance records and computer-based maintenance documentation in line with company procedures.
- Recommend improvements to the operation, reliability and performance of equipment where appropriate.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning and modification of new equipment and plant.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the maintenance and production areas.
- Work collaboratively with production and other site teams to support the achievement of production targets.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required by site management.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification such as BTEC, HNC or equivalent experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance — Level 3 minimum.
- Experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Good knowledge of electric motors, inverter drives and electrical control panels.
- Competent working with hydraulic systems.
- Competent in carrying out hot work safely.
- Demonstrable fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong quality and safety awareness.
- Confident using computer-based maintenance management systems and completing maintenance documentation.
Desirable Experience
Experience or knowledge of:
- Material handling systems.
- Bucket elevators.
- Belt conveyors.
- Screw conveyors.
- Diverters and associated conveying equipment.
- Mechanical testing, fault finding, installation and inspection.
- PLC-controlled systems and basic PLC fault finding.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical maintenance / engineering.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance / engineering.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
