Overview
Overall responsibility for maintaining the standard of ‘Right First Time’ and ‘Right All The Time’ principles, this is ensuring that technical issues are resolved for the processes that are controlled using these methods. This will involve responsibility for managing & maintaining high standard machine set ups and assist in implementing measures which will maintain this high standard and discipline into the future.
Where targets and KPI’s are not met, to understand the cause and create a correction to achieve the targets.
In addition, to resolve any relevant technical issues liaising with the Production Engineering Department where appropriate, e.g. programming, drawing, document issues.
Duties
- Responsible for setting machines at a high technical standard ensuring setups are completed within the allotted time and are “right 1st time”. Where targets are not achieved to identify the necessary actions to correct these, adding any actions to a PFU and reviewing with the Tech Lead Manager.
· Responsible for ensuring the tool life is managed so that no adjustments or tool changes are required by the operators, in order to align with the ‘right all the time’ principle.
· To manage time effectively seeking out new ways to improve available time.
· To complete pre-setting and support with tooling management.
· To agree priorities with the production department manager and to raise any constraints which may impact those priorities.
· To liaise with the relevant department managers to resolve machine availability losses such as long set times, inconsistent quality, poor repeatability.
· To encourage high standards and good behaviours within the cell.
· Responsibility for creating and updating all documents relating to ‘Right First Time’ & ‘Right all the time’ initiatives, (setting, instructions, quality, TPM, reports)
· To be responsible for setup reduction activities alongside the Technical Lead manager
· To identify, recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety.
· To ensure effective communication across all parties.
· To carry out any defined responsibilities under 6S, TPM or other company activities.
· To be fully involved in Kaizen and quality improvements, formulating plans with Unit Manager and Cell Leaders and to lead from the front during the implementation and delivery of new initiatives.
· To provide relevant training to cell members.
· To understand production targets and deadlines.
· To initiate, drive and support continuous improvement activities.
· To support in the running of machines where there is a strong business need.
· To adhere to Company Policy, Procedures and Daido Metal Corporate Philosophy and Principles.
Health, Safety and Environment:
· To ensure ongoing compliance with HS&E rules and policies.
· To report promptly any accidents, near misses or health, safety and environmental concerns.
Administration
· Produce regular and accurate production information as required

Person Specification
Qualifications / Education Standards and Level of Skill Required
· Engineering related qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent. A lower-level qualification that is supported with relevant experience will also be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
· Experience of milling, turning or any other engineering machinery operation.
· The ability to use measuring equipment such as vernier calipers and micrometers.
· Experience of producing a detailed quality product.
· The ability to meet high standards on a consistent basis.
· A self-motivated and focused attitude.
· The ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings.
· Sound technical and operational knowledge of relevant site production processes, techniques and capabilities.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The job holder will be required to demonstrate the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with internal customers within challenging situations.
· Excellent organisational skills and the ability to cope with changing demands whilst under pressure of time constraints.
· An ability to work well with others and to support the team.
· Proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets and Word documentation.
· A high standard of numeracy and literacy, and the ability to analyse information in a range of formats.
· The ability to apply sound judgment to problem solving and challenging situation
Pay: £17.02-£21.07 per hour
