We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to take ownership of the cloud infrastructure supporting our applications and internal services.
You'll be responsible for designing, building and maintaining cloud environments, with a strong focus on automation, security, reliability and sensible use of resources. This is a hands-on role. You'll be expected to work directly with infrastructure, troubleshoot production issues, review changes and improve the way cloud services are managed.
You'll work closely with software engineers, security specialists and IT teams on new deployments, infrastructure changes and migrations. You'll also have the opportunity to influence technical decisions around cloud architecture and help establish practical standards for how infrastructure is built and operated.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and maintain production cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Develop reusable modules and deployment processes so infrastructure can be provisioned consistently.
- Manage cloud networking, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers and DNS.
- Review cloud environments for availability, security, performance and unnecessary resource usage.
- Support application teams with cloud deployments, infrastructure requirements and production issues.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Implement appropriate monitoring, logging and alerting across cloud services.
- Investigate infrastructure incidents and production failures, identifying the underlying cause rather than relying on short-term fixes.
- Manage cloud identity and access controls, secrets and security configurations in line with internal policies.
- Plan and carry out cloud migrations, service upgrades and infrastructure changes with minimal disruption.
- Monitor cloud consumption and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary spend without compromising system performance or availability.
- Automate routine infrastructure tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar tools.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
- Work with security and engineering teams to review proposed cloud architecture and technical changes.
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and take ownership of assigned cloud projects from planning through implementation.
