The overall purpose of the Greater Manchester Lung Cancer Screening Programme (GMLCSP) is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives. Greater Manchester has been identified as an area of high disease prevalence where significant impact can be made from the recognition of early-stage lung cancer & offering curative treatment.
The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and overseeing of the day-to-day operational management of the highly complex Lung Cancer Screening Programme and over time, will develop specialist knowledge underpinned by experience and theory. The Programme Manager will ensure that all personnel and services that contribute to the programme are co-ordinated across organisational boundaries and meet performance standards and quality assurance (QA) requirements.
The Lung Cancer Screening Programme Manager will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital, with the requirement to attend mobile sites across GM as required. The post holder will work in close collaboration with the GM Cancer Alliance, General Practices and 3rd Party Providers to ensure an integrated community-based service, robust patient and professional communication, and high-quality assessment of positive screens. There will be a particularly close liaison with the GM LCS Programme Director, who provides overall leadership & responsibility for the programme.
