Full job description

We are looking for a Yard Assistant for our Builders Merchants in Lancing.

Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970’s.

Over the last 15 years we have seen considerable expansion, and are ambitious to continue our growth strategy as we strive to be better tomorrow than today by innovating and adapting both our goods and services.

Responsibilities and Duties

Support the organisation of the yard and deliveries, keeping the yard in good condition
Showcase stock knowledge and an enthusiasm to help the customer
Support stock management of the branch, ensuring proper procedures are followed
Excellent customer service skills
Merchandising of stock throughout the branch
Help with deliveries, both inward and outward, by loading and unloading stock with a forklift
Assist with driving a company flat bed van for deliveries where needed

Qualifications and Skills

An enthusiasm for teamwork, to work hard and learn is essential.
Ability to lift 25kg
Drivers licence is required
Forklift licence is beneficial. Using a forklift is a key part of the role but training could be provided
