Job description

Salary – Up to £45,000.00 + 30% shift allowance

Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN16 1XA

Pattern of Work – 42 hours, shifts

What you need to know about the role

Working as a Shift Operations Manager, you will support the Steelmaking Shift Manager by creating an environment where teams can focus and concentrate to achieve plant operating targets and objectives whilst abiding by health, safety and environmental standards and legislation.

You will provide leadership and maintaining discipline for your team is vital to your role as you will need to monitor the performance of team leaders, deputies and their teams. You will need to identify, develop and initiate continuous improvement initiatives across your responsible areas.

Key Responsibilities

Lead shift operations to achieve production, safety, quality, and departmental performance targets.
Manage and coordinate resources to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, engineering, and COMAH regulations.
Lead accident, incident, and production investigations, implementing corrective actions and sharing lessons learned.
Chair daily operational meetings and drive effective communication across teams.
Collaborate with Engineering, Technical, and Operational teams to support maintenance activities, capital projects, and process improvements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
Develop, coach, and manage shift teams through training, performance reviews, succession planning, and workforce planning.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S practices through regular audits and continuous improvement activities.
Act in designated operational roles, including PICC, Issuing Authority, and Incident Controller when required.

What we need to know about you

You will have:

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive performance and maintain standards.
Experience in a process or manufacturing environment.
A Degree/HNC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience).
The enthusiasm and drive needed to deliver results in a demanding operational setting.
