About The Role

We are seeking a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Upper Limb (Shoulder) surgery to join our team at Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality elective orthopaedic care within a modern, patient-focused environment. You will play a key role in shaping shoulder services, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent outcomes for both day-case and outpatient pathways.

The role offers flexibility across a 10 PA (40-hour) working week, with opportunities for evening and weekend work to support service demand.

As a Practice Plus Group Consultant you will have access to great facilities in a well-structured and relaxed environment. We offer high quality day case and inpatient treatment in a wide range of specialties, delivering excellent clinical care. You will be joining a team committed to delivering the highest standards in patient care.

We offer a competitive salary, and we are considering candidates for substantive employment only.

What you'll be doing

Delivering specialist upper limb (shoulder-led) orthopaedic care across outpatient, day-case and inpatient settings
Undertaking surgical procedures and contributing to the elective orthopaedic programme
Providing clinical leadership and expert advice to the wider clinical team
Participating in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives
Supporting service development to enhance upper limb pathways and patient outcomes
Contributing to teaching, training and continuous professional development within the centre
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the hospital and wider NHS network to ensure seamless patient care

What we’ll look for in you

GMC Specialist Register status as a qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon
A strong specialist interest and proven experience in Upper Limb (Shoulder) surgery
Broad experience in elective orthopaedics and multidisciplinary team working
Excellent communication skills and a patient-centred approach
Commitment to clinical excellence, governance and continuous improvement
Evidence of teaching, audit and ongoing professional development
A flexible, collaborative approach with the ability to contribute to service growth
