Senior Project Engineer (BESS / Renewable Energy)

Cheltenham

£50,000 - £65,000

Noriker Power is a leading renewable energy integrator and developer specialising in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects that support the UK and Ireland’s power grid. Over the past ten years, we’ve developed and built more than 350MW of battery and hybrid facilities with an extensive pipeline of projects. With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and long-term impact, we have become a key player in the energy transition driving the development of grid-scale projects that shape the future of a renewable and sustainable grid.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a proven track record in delivering large scale infrastructure projects. They will provide technical leadership and the strategic oversight necessary to bring complex BESS projects from concept to commissioning.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, possess a strong sense of responsibility, and be committed to delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership for the lifecycle of grid scale BESS projects.
Work closely with Project Managers to drive milestones, acting as the primary technical authority in project delivery.
Oversee subcontract and internal technical staff, proactively identifying engineering risks, optimizing costs, providing engineering solutions, and ensuring all work meets project specifications.
Act as the key focal point for the technical review of all designs and documentation attributed to the project.
Coordinate technical input across electrical, civil and mechanical engineering disciplines.
Actively involved in site activities during construction and commissioning phases performing intermittent site and equipment inspections.
Technical discussion and review of plant equipment suppliers to ensure fulfilment of project requirements.
Provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers involved in various aspects of the project.

Requirements:

Degree educated in engineering, preferably electrical or civil engineering.
Demonstrable experience in multi-million pound large scale infrastructure projects, preferably within the energy or renewables sector.
Preferred experience in grid scale BESS projects, on-shore or off-shore wind farms, or HV substations.
Engineering experience with demonstrable problem solving abilities.
Proven track record in providing technical leadership on large scale projects.
Strong report writing skills.
Passion for Renewable Energy and the energy market.
Strong IT literacy and CAD proficiency.
Programming and modelling experience with exposure to any of: SQL databases, Python, Labview, Golang or other programming languages - a strong advantage.
Good communication and organisation skills.
