Full job description

The Young Person Support Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the individual timetables and wellbeing of up to 20 young people, ensuring their programmes run smoothly and meet the expectations of local authorities, caregivers and to the companies high standards. Using a relationship-based approach and specialist knowledge in SEN, the Coordinator supports young people to engage, liaises closely with professionals and subcontractors, and ensures all safeguarding, reporting, and compliance requirements are met. This is a hands-on role, working directly with young people and their networks to create stability, progress, and positive outcomes.

Delivery & Casework

Oversee timetables for up to 20 young people, ensuring they run smoothly and are delivered as agreed with the local authority.

Use knowledge of SEN and relationship-based strategies to address barriers such as refusal to engage, adapting timetables and approaches as needed.

Cover mentoring sessions in the event of a subcontractor cancelling at short notice.

Attend enrichment trips (UK and overseas) alongside young people, supporting engagement and wellbeing.

Work with the Exams Officer to arrange subcontracted mentors for transporting young people to assessment locations.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

Respond to and follow-up on low-level day-to-day safeguarding concerns, progressing mid- and high-level concerns seeking guidance from the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family Support Coordinator.

Conduct and implement risk assessments for young people and trips, sharing these with mentors and tutors for integration into their sessions.

Signpost or refer young people and families to external support services (e.g. CAMHS, mental health provision) where appropriate.

Maintain oversight of young people’s attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing, ensuring swift intervention when issues arise.

Operations & Compliance

Monitor and manage WhatsApp groups, reports, and referral documentation (including EHCPs) for each young person in their remit.

Mark and record daily attendance for all young people, sharing with on-roll schools as required.

Check subcontractor mentor and tutor weekly reports are submitted on time, reviewing them for suitability and quality before passing to professionals.

Provide feedback to subcontractors on reports and follow up if concerns are raised.

Notify the Internal Support Lead once all weekly reports are complete and ready for secure circulation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Attend multi-agency professional meetings for each young person with DSL, supported by the Internal Support Lead or Provision Lead as required, and provide summary notes for review.

Meet with caregivers at least fortnightly, and during school holidays, to review progress, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with programme delivery.

Maintain strong communication with young people’s caregivers, professionals, mentors, and tutors to build a supportive network around each young person.

Feed back insights and opportunities from meetings or conversations with young people and their networks to the Internal Support Lead.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Track attendance, engagement, and progress of young people to inform weekly reporting.

Provide input into assessment levels suitable for each young person, based on tutor guidance and observed progress.

Escalate cases of subcontractors not meeting standards or code of conduct to the Internal Support Lead.

Professional Development & Learning

Attend CPD days and training as directed by the Managing Director or Provision Lead, with a focus on neurodiversity and SEN best practice.

Actively engage in continuous learning to strengthen relationship-based practice and support for young people.

Direct experience supporting SEN and neurodiverse young people in education, mentoring, or care settings.

Experience managing caseloads and maintaining accurate records/documentation.

Familiarity with safeguarding procedures, with training as DSL or willingness to achieve certification.

Experience liaising with caregivers, professionals, and multi-agency networks.

Confidence in adapting timetables, activities, and support strategies to meet individual needs.

Experience in monitoring attendance and producing progress reports.

Ability to conduct risk assessments for young people and trips.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young people and their families.

Reports to: Internal Support Lead (with dotted line to Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family Support Coordinator)

Pay: £29,000.00-£31,500.00 per year
