Woolcool® is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving our production equipment as we continue to invest in new manufacturing technologies and automated production lines.
This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys planned preventative maintenance, equipment reliability and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with Production and Operations teams to ensure our machinery performs safely, efficiently and reliably, helping us deliver exceptional service to our customers.

The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, your primary focus will be delivering an effective Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme to maximise machine reliability, reduce downtime and support the continued growth of our manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance across all manufacturing equipment.
- Complete machinery inspections, servicing and condition-based maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Assist with installation, commissioning and optimisation of new production and automation equipment.
- Support continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency, reliability and equipment performance.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to minimise downtime.
- Identify opportunities to improve preventative maintenance processes and asset reliability.
- Ensure all maintenance activity is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
- Support contractor visits and external maintenance providers where necessary.
About You
Essential
- Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of Planned Preventative Maintenance systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Multi-skilled mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Experience supporting automated production equipment.
- PLC fault-finding experience.
- Experience with conveyors, motors, pneumatics and sensors.
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
