Driver / Team Leader for Rockstar Removals

What We’re Looking For -

We are looking for a Team Leader and Driver. This means that other than having experience with driving (ideally larger or 3.5 tonne Luton box vans) applicants will have to have quality personalities, maturity, excellent self-motivation, confidence in themselves, excellent customer service skills and strong leadership capacity. As well as these personality traits they need to be physically fit and have good spacial awareness as heavy lifting and packing are primary features of the job. We pay above the industry standard for drivers, the reason for this being that more than just the practical capabilities of the role, we are looking for quality staff with excellent personalities that can engage thoughtfully and courteously with our clients. Here's a breakdown of day to day responsibilities with the role:

- Check and maintain safety and presentation of the work vehicle you'll be using.

- Driving a 3.5 Tonne Luton Box van with Tail lift (approximately 70% local destinations within 20 miles of HQ, 30% intermediate to long distance around the U.K.)

- Leading a team, typically with 1 porter, sometimes 2 porters, who will assist you with loading the vans, occasionally working solo. Also interacting with second or third teams on the larger jobs, which also consist of 2-3 staff members per team.

- Loading and unloading furniture and equipment out of clients homes, into the work van and back out again, working to time frames in the process.

- Observing protocols for both the safety of you and your team, and the care of your client's belongings and homes.

- Client interaction during loading and unloading, representing our values in the process by being courteous, conscientious and friendly. You will lead the team in an inspection of the property and checking any requirements the client may have before commencing the move.

- Phone duties, staying on top of bookings in the calendar and calling the clients ahead of arrival with the eta, and notifying them if your schedule has altered.

Our current HQ is in Ellesmere Port, but we are rapidly expanding over the course of the next 2 years, so will begin covering a wider area up the Wirral to Liverpool and up the M56 corridor to Altrincham, as well as moving into storage, so we are looking for motivated individuals who are keen to grow their careers in line with the development of the company. We are not looking for short term employment with this role.

Trial and Training

After 1 or 2 initial trail shifts to determine suitability for the role, a successful candidate will then be offered a provisional role before commencing a training programme which is paid at a rate of £12.20 an hour. Depending on previous experience this can go on for up to 8-12 weeks. Upon completing training, a standard 6 month probationary period will then begin, before the candidate goes on to take the job full time and the wage increases to £14 p/hr + bonuses. The role is listed as part time only because there is some fluctuation in our quieter periods (typically in the post Christmas months) where there will be slightly less hours going, but on a practical and mechanical level, the role is effectively full time.
