About Audiebant
Audiebant is an innovative technology company providing cutting-edge audio, notification and life-safety solutions within the education and corporate sectors. Our platform integrates real-time alerts, player management, cloud APIs and IoT button-triggered events, delivered to customers across the UK and internationally.
Our software is used in environments where reliability genuinely matters. When a customer triggers an alert, it must work — first time, every time. That principal shapes how we build, test and release.
As we continue to expand, we are looking for an Azure DevOps Engineer to join our technology team.
The Role
This is a hands-on Azure DevOps role embedded within the technology team. You will work day to day alongside our developers and software QA team, reporting to the Chief Technology officer, with responsibility for the pipelines, environments and tooling that take our code from commit to production.
Alongside this, you will act as Audiebant's technical owner of our Microsoft Azure environment. We work with a managed service partner who act as our primary engineering resource for the platform, and a significant part of this role is working closely with them — setting direction, reviewing and assuring their work, coordinating changes, and making sure the infrastructure we run on remains secure, resilient and cost-effective.
It is a role that suits someone who is comfortable both writing the automation themselves and holding an external partner to account. You will be the person in the business who understands our infrastructure end to end, and the bridge between how it is built and how our software is delivered onto it.
Key Skills
We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience across the following:
- Strong hands-on experience with global infrastructure including core Azure services, including virtual machines, App Services, storage, Kubernetes, networking (VNets, NSGs) and load balancers, as well as Cloudflare.
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. We use GitHub Actions, but strong experience with other CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, CircleCI, GitLab CI or similar) is equally welcome.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (our preferred tool), or Bicep and ARM templates, for repeatable, automated deployments.
- Strong foundation in Docker or other containerisation processes, with orchestration on Kubernetes or Azure Container Apps.
- Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash and the Azure CLI.
- Monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.
- Source control and branching strategy in Git.
- Security and compliance awareness, including patching, secrets management, backups and secure configuration.
- Confidence in managing, reviewing and challenging the work of a third-party technical supplier.
What You'll Be Doing
CI/CD and Release Engineering
- Design, build and maintain the build and release pipelines that deliver our software to Azure.
- Automate deployments so that releases are consistent, repeatable and low risk.
- Work with the development team to improve build times, feedback loops and developer experience.
- Manage versioning, artefact storage and release approvals in line with our change management process.
- Support safe deployment practices such as staged rollouts, blue/green deployments and rollback.
Azure Infrastructure Ownership
- Act as the internal technical owner of the Azure estate, maintaining a clear picture of what we run and why.
- Define infrastructure standards, naming conventions, tagging and configuration baselines.
- Maintain Infrastructure as Code so that environments are documented, version-controlled and reproducible.
- Oversee networking, identity, storage and compute configuration across the platform.
- Administer Entra ID, role-based access control, conditional access and MFA policies to maintain least-privilege access.
Working With Our Managed Service Partner
- Act as the primary technical point of contact between Audiebant and our managed service partner.
- Review and assure work carried out by the partner, ensuring it meets our standards before it reaches production.
- Coordinate and approve change requests, planned maintenance and escalations.
- Hold the partner to account on service levels, response times and delivery commitments.
- Feed into technical reviews, architecture decisions and the platform roadmap.
- Ensure knowledge and documentation remain within Audiebant rather than sitting solely with the partner.
Environments and QA Support
- Build and maintain development, test, staging and production environments.
- Ensure environments are consistent with each other so that testing is meaningful.
- Support the QA team with test data management, environment refreshes and automated test execution within the pipeline.
- Work with the QA team to test infrastructure and environment changes as part of development and release, validating that they meet requirements before reaching production.
- Reduce the time it takes to stand up or reset an environment.
Monitoring, Observability and Reliability
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting across applications and infrastructure.
- Build dashboards that give the development team visibility of system health and performance.
- Investigate performance, connectivity and reliability issues, working with the partner where escalation is needed.
- Take part in incident response, root cause analysis and post-incident improvement.
- Contribute to resilience and disaster recovery planning, including backup configuration and restore testing
Security and Compliance
- Ensure infrastructure and deployment practices support our ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications.
- Manage secrets, certificates and credentials securely, including renewal and expiry monitoring.
- Embed security scanning and dependency checking into the build pipeline.
- Maintain patching and vulnerability management schedules with the managed service partner.
- Support internal and external audits with evidence of controls and change history.
Cost Management and Optimisation
- Monitor Azure consumption and report on spend against budget.
- Identify underused or oversized resources and implement rightsizing.
- Use Azure Cost Management to maintain budgets, forecasts and alerts.
- Provide cost input into infrastructure decisions and product cost modelling.
What We're Looking For

- Cloudflare — experience with Cloudflare, DNS and global traffic routing, R2 storage and Workers.
- CI/CD — demonstrable experience building and maintaining pipelines. GitHub Actions is our tooling of choice, but experience with Azure DevOps, CircleCI or similar is equally valued.
- Infrastructure as Code — practical experience with Terraform (preferred), or Bicep and ARM templates.
- Scripting and Automation — proficiency with PowerShell, Bash and the Azure CLI.
- Monitoring and Observability — familiarity with Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.
- Identity and Security — solid understanding of Entra ID, RBAC, conditional access and secure cloud configuration.
- Version Control — confident with Git and able to advise on branching and release strategy.

Desirable
- Deeper orchestration experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Apps.
- Experience with real-time or IoT platforms, including MQTT.
- Exposure to Linux server administration.
- Experience working within an ISO 27001 certified environment.
- Experience managing or working alongside an outsourced infrastructure partner.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as AZ-104 or AZ-400.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- Hands-on learning and genuine professional growth, including support towards relevant certifications
- 20 days’ annual leave + bank holidays
- Free onsite parking
- The chance to be part of a fast-growing company focused on career development, working on technology that genuinely matters — edge systems that people rely on in emergencies
