Full job description

The Outreach Worker will be a big part of the UK church planting team. They will be responsible for spreading the gospel and building relationships within the local community. This role focuses on sharing Christ’s love through evangelism, discipleship, and practical service, with the goal of establishing and strengthening the local church.

Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships within the local community, with a focus on sharing the gospel and identifying opportunities for outreach in collaboration with the church
Evangelism: Actively share the Christian faith through conversations, events, and one-on-one discipleship, seeking to lead individuals to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
Discipleship: Mentor new believers, helping them grow in their faith and serve the local church wholeheartedly
Church Planting Support: Work alongside the Serge team members to support the growth and development of the church, encouraging indigenous leadership
Collaboration: Partner with other missionaries, local church leaders, and Christian organizations to enhance outreach efforts
Cultural Sensitivity: Adapt evangelistic methods to the cultural context, ensuring that the message of Christ is communicated effectively and respectfully
Event Coordination: Plan and execute outreach events, such as community service projects, evangelistic meetings, and fellowship gatherings, all designed to engage local people
Training & Equipping: Provide training and resources to team members and the church, empowering them to evangelize and disciple within their own communities
Reporting & Communication: Regularly report on outreach activities, successes, and challenges to Serge leadership and supporters

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

Strong Faith: A deep, personal, and prayerfully dependent relationship with Jesus Christ, with a passion for sharing the gospel and discipling others
Evangelism Experience: Proven experience in evangelism and outreach, preferably in a cross-cultural church setting
Cultural Awareness: The ability to engage with and adapt to different cultures, demonstrating respect and sensitivity
Discipleship Skills: Experience in mentoring and discipling new believers, helping them grow in their faith
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey the gospel message clearly and compellingly
Team Player: The ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other missionaries and local leaders
Flexibility: A willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, people, and needs in the field, holding firm to the grace-based gospel
Commitment: A strong commitment to the mission and values of Serge

Support Raising:

The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
