Graduate OHL Design Engineer - Development Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Design Engineer to join our growing multi-disciplinary company on a full time basis. With the current regulatory mandate to transform the energy sector in Great Britain to facilitate Net Zero, there has never been a better time to be a part of this key infrastructure sector.
About us:
Across the company we offer design solutions and design studies relating to overhead lines and underground cable schemes. We provide planning and environmental consultancy expertise and provide site-based services including overhead line and underground cable surveys, condition inspections, site investigations and engineering and environmental surveys.
Job role:
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you’ll join a supportive team of experienced engineers who will mentor you, helping you gain practical experience and knowledge to be able to develop your skills and confidence in the role. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and be a part of a multi-disciplinary team. With no two days the same, you will be exposed to a wide range of disciplines and stakeholders each contributing towards your ongoing learning and development.
What can you expect from the role.
- With the support and mentoring from the team, you will have the opportunity to absorb information and develop your knowledge and skills enabling you to accelerate quickly to the position of Design Engineer.
- You will undertake design studies under the guidance of senior engineers and meet quality requirements and deadlines.
- You will work with industry-standard tools, including the PLS-CADD software suite, to develop your practical engineering solutions.
- You will be expected to assist with the production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings to meet the needs of the projects.
- You will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself and develop your knowledge of design standards and best practices.
- As part of ongoing development there will be opportunities for some site based roles which is encouraged and in turn offers you valuable experience across the businesses range of activities.
Skills required:
Ø Qualifications:
- You will be working towards (or have already achieved) a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.
Ø Professional and behavioural skills:
- You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and be confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
- You are able to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively with strong organisational and planning skills.
- You will be able to articulate your information and ideas in a clear and concise manner. Have a methodical approach to problem solving with great attention to detail.
- Flexibility – you will be able to adapt to a diverse work load and embrace ongoing learning.
- Have a strong professional work ethic and maintain high professional standards
- Have the ability to demonstrate the company values of integrity, teamwork and professional excellence.
Ø I.T Skills:
- A good level of computer literacy and IT skills would be desirable, particularly using Excel and Word programmes
Ø Desirable Skills:
- Relevant industry experience.
Ø Additional requirements for the role:
- You will be able to travel and attend meetings and site visits across the UK which may include occasional overnight stays.

Salary:

Working Hours:
- Full time based in Energyline’s Head Office in Copgrove.
